幹細胞研究對於遺傳性疾病，和阿茲海默症等退化性疾病的治療大有可為，英國為了擴大幹細胞研究，提出要使用動物像是牛或是兔子的卵，來培養胚胎研究，不過卻引起很大爭議，反對者擔心可能會造出像科學怪人、半人半獸的怪物。

幹細胞的研究日新月異，由於人類的卵子難以取得，英國的研究團隊提出新想法，希望申請使用動物，像是牛或兔子的卵子，來進行實驗。

到時候像這樣，從被宰殺的牛身上取出卵子，移除裡頭的遺傳物質，然後從罹患特定疾病的患者身上，取得皮膚上的體細胞，注入到牛的卵中，培養成胚胎，再取出其中的幹細胞來做研究。

但反對者擔心，這樣的實驗可能會造出像科學怪人那樣，半人半獸的怪物。而科學家強調，胚胎的99.5%都是來自人類，只是借了動物卵子的殼，並不會有太大影響。像這位罹患運動神經元疾病的媽媽，就希望這類研究可以進行避免其他家人患病。遺傳疾病患者：「我希望這可以幫助其餘罹病的家人。」

英國下週將決定這項研究是否合法，不過由於保守壓力頗大，可能還是不會過關。

hmm...all animal cell have same structure than the other, and if the scientists had found a way to remove the nucleus of the non-human egg and use it for this experiment, than this idea sounds like it is going to work...~.~ But one thing for sure that is more likely impossible to creat a half-human half-animal creature by doing this process due to the different number of chromosome, and don't even mention that the genetic material had been removed before the human cell is inject into the egg. I am really supporting genetic engineering/therapy as long as people use it in the correct way... I don't want to see a other "me" walking on the street if you know what I mean...^^"
